Pet Connection: Mittens and Stray Animals Matter

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — For this week’s Pet Connection, we were joined by Mittens the Kitten and Samantha Reid from Stray Animals Matter to talk about Mitten’s story and how people in the area can help cats just like her.


Mittens was found by herself in the air ducts of a business in Monett.


Tips for becoming a responsible dog owner


“She had quite an adventure in her early life,” Reid said.


Stray Animals Matter is a nonprofit animal shelter that has had Mittens for a couple of weeks. Mittens isn’t quite ready to go home yet, but she and many other kittens just like her are about to start looking for their forever homes or hang out at foster homes for a while.

Cox Monett Hospital will host a Community Live Well Screening on Saturday, Sept. 17, to help residents take charge of their health. For $45, participants will receive a complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, full lipid profile (cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides), Hgb A1C (blood glucose), TSH (thyroid), and, for an additional $15, a PSA test (prostate cancer). Tests are performed on a walk-in basis and are self-pay (cash or check only). Please fast 10 to 12 hours prior to the blood draw. On Saturday, Aug. 27, the monster truck Earthquake broke a world record for crushing a total of 42 cars stacked in a pyramid in Monett. The monster truck is owned by veteran Alan Fenstermaker, who competes in monster truck events across the United States. READ FULL ARTICLE >>
